Craving Dessert?? Martha's Country Bakery has anything and everything that you are craving. From cupcakes to cannolis. Martha has it all!!! Everything is baked on location, so you know that its FRESH!

I definitely felt like I was walking into a warm, country bakery. I wanted to try all that Martha had to offer but of course, I couldn't. So, I ordered 2 cupcakes: oreo and red velvet, fruit tart and a tiramisu cake.
They were all delicious. The cupcakes and tiramisu were not too sweet and very light. The cake was moist this time as opposed to the cupcakes that Ting brought me last year. (sorry!! haha) The fruit tart almond crust was delicious (my favorite part!). A nice crunch with the fruit.

Overall, I will definitely be back to Martha's Country Bakery. I have to try them all =)

If you are ever in the city and happen to be in Korea town, check this place out for dessert and coffee. This place has everything from specialty Korean desserts to cupcakes! The cupcakes here were pretty good buuuutttt the #1 thing get here is the Bing Soo a.k.a. shaved ice. This baby has everything that you want in it and its HUGE! Its about the size of my head...and my head is pretty big lol so you get the idea! There is about 5 flavors to choose from; strawberry, coffee, green tea, vanilla, and chocolate. I opted to choose strawberry both times I was there.

From the bottom to the top: shaved ice, sweet red beans, strawberry ice cream, mochi, blueberries, corn flakes, pineapple, strawberries, grapes, another scoop of strawberry ice cream with whip cream and chocolate pixie sticks on the side.

Atmosphere: It is really chill in here. House music is usually playing in the background and its not usually too crowded, so you will usually get seated right away.
Price: The Bing Soo is $12, but this can be split among 2 to 4 people.
They do not have a website but trust me, this place is good! ^^

*PLEASE NOTE: THE BING SOO IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN THE SUMMER*

On the way to Egg, I stumbled upon Cupcakeland! This is located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It initially caught my eye because it the store name had "cupcake" and the exterior is all pink! We got the mint chocolate chip cupcake and the lemon raspberry cupcake. The frosting on the "mc" was fair, not overwhelming like Crumbs. However, this particular one did not have consistent cake composition. Lili's lemon raspberry was tangy but in a good way! The sweet and sour taste to the frosting was a great balance with the moist vanilla cake.
I couldn't say that I would have the urge to come back here again unless I'm nearby Williamsburg and happened to be heading towards N. 5th street.

Red velvet is one of the most popular cakes known to man. Even though the red dye doesn't do anything to the taste, something about eating a rich, deep red cake can get the sugar level pumping. Possibly fist pumping... haha JK
I saw this place featured on the Food Network and they claimed to have one of the best red velvet cakes out there. And since it was in Brooklyn, there were no excuses for me not to go.

The menu changes daily. I went on a Saturday and they had 3 choices: 1) Red Velvet 2) Pineapple 3) Coconut
I opted to choose 2 out of the 3 since these babies go for $6 a slice!

The red velvet cake here is pretty good but I wouldn't say it was the best. The frosting is the best part of the cake. The cream cheese frosting was sweet but not overwhelming. It was perfect balance. And the best part was the pecans! But you if you're not a nut person, they have ones that are plain. The cake part could have been more moist. It was a bit dry.

I believe the cakes were baked up stairs and brought down to the bakery. There were cakes stored in boxes behind the cash register. That could be factor for some cakes being more dry than others.

Bottom line: If you are in the downtown area of Brooklyn and want to try something featured on the Food Network, then do it.  However, this place is noteworthy, so some other places may be worth your time.

I thoroughly enjoyed this coconut cake. The frosting is similar to the red velvet cake but with coconut in it. I found this cake more moist the red velvet. Strange huh?
